Aromatherapy for dogs and cats

Aromatherapy

For dogs and cats, it works similarly to humans – using plant-based scents to calm and support overall well-being.

For Dogs and Cats

For dogs, it may be even more effective in supporting their overall health and emotional balance.
For cats, it is a very sensitive matter. We have chosen to use a natural essential oil from real Chamomile extract. This plant is safe for both dogs and cats. After thorough expert study and precise dosage, we apply this method to our beds. The oil is sourced from Slovakia.

Using essential oils in pet care requires caution, as their sense of smell is much more sensitive than that of humans. The dosing process is complex and delicate, and we follow a formula consulted with a veterinary specialist.

About Chamomile

About Chamomile

When used in aromatherapy, chamomile’s scent or essential oil helps dogs relax. It can relieve stress, nervousness, and even sleep issues. Chamomile also has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help with irritated skin when used in a compress or diluted oil form.

Chamomile is considered one of the safest oils when used properly and in small quantities. It can be added to a bath, used in a diffuser (never directly by the dog), or as part of a calming massage.

Dog and chamomile

Aromatherapy for Dogs

  • Reduces stress and anxiety – oils like lavender or chamomile can help calm dogs during stressful events like storms or vet visits.
  • Supports healing of skin issues – tea tree oil may help with minor wounds or irritations if diluted correctly.
  • Supports joints and mobility – ginger or frankincense can help relieve pain and stiffness in older dogs.
  • Improves digestion – ginger or peppermint oil may reduce bloating and nausea.
  • Repels parasites – citronella or eucalyptus can help deter fleas and ticks if used in safe concentrations.

Cat and chamomile

Aromatherapy for Cats

This is a very delicate matter because cats have a different metabolism than dogs or humans and are more vulnerable to the toxicity of some essential oils.

Some oils are toxic to cats – for example citrus, eucalyptus, tea tree, pine, or peppermint. Cats lack the enzymes needed to break down these substances, which can result in liver damage or neurological problems.

Safe oils for cats, when highly diluted, include:

  • Chamomile – calming, but must be used very carefully and in minimal doses.
  • Lavender – in small amounts, can help with stress relief.
  • Frankincense – often considered safer, helps with relaxation and anxiety.

The safest method is diffusion – the cat can leave the room if it doesn’t like the scent. Never apply oils directly on a cat or near its food.

Always use low concentrations and consult a veterinarian who specializes in aromatherapy.
