What is RFID?

RFID systems operate in multiple frequency bands, starting with the low-frequency band, typically 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz, or in the high-frequency band 850-950 MHz or 2.4-2.5 GHz. The lower frequencies of 125-134 kHz have a range of less than 50 cm and transmit a small amount of data at low scanning speeds. They are used, for example, in attendance systems, car immobilizers, animal chipping, etc. The 13.56 MHz systems used for contactless cards typically have a range of up to 1 meter. The sensing range is primarily affected by the type of chip, reader, and antenna. In optimal conditions, it is possible to scan class 0 passive RFID tags up to a distance of 8 meters.
